Rebuilding Your Three Speed Hub

Remove the chain coming out of the hub (called the indicator chain) by turning it like you would a screw.

Tip: Look at the parts exploded diagram here to see the names of all the parts.

Remove both the left and right axle nuts by unscrewing them. Then clamp the hub in a vice. Do this by clamping on the flat portions of the axle with the gear-side of the hub facing up.

Pry off the spring-clip that holds the rear gear on, (called a cog), with a screwdriver.
