Check your tire pressure regularly! Use a standard pressure gauge available at most bike stores for a couple of dollars. Typical three speed tires should be inflated to about 55 pounds per square inch. If you want to check the specific rating for your tire, look at the side of the tire, which is referred to as the "side-wall." Usually the pressure rating will be printed there.

Although you do not want to over-oil your bicycles chain, a little oil every couple of weeks is a good idea. Apply oil to the chain where it rides over the rear cog (gear). Do this while back-pedaling the crank with your hand. This will get an even distribution of oil over the whole chain. Remember, you don't need much!
Tip: Wipe off any excess oil with a rag. Once the oil has soaked into the chain links, any left over external oil will just pick up road dirt as you ride.
